C5 production to end

This on FCF yesterday...

from hattershaun Mon 15 Feb 2016 10:08pm
"Just to be clear, April is the last month of production of RHD C5, so if you order one now it will be built.
LHD production continues for a while longer, until early 2017 I believe.
I've seen the bulletin that went to all the UK Citroen Dealers.
There were 10 unsold C5 in the UK, as of this morning, 7 of those are Exclusive, so have hydractive suspension.
Get one while you can!"

And with it will cease production of hydropneumatic Citroens. It seems that out of 600,000+ Citroens sold during 2014, only 10,000 were fluidly suspended. Plenty more info on the recent FCF thread.

A shame, I've always liked the C5 III. They quietly kept updating it, but just didn't advertise it enough. A car that was forgotten almost.
End of the hydractive era.... It's a Concorde moment, everything is going backwards!

Theres always one!

Why is it a suprise? All models come to an end, and the french are well renowned for forgetting their past cars!

Until they start using the Bose suspension system.

My first C5 which was a 2.2 was very nice to drive but dreadful on fuel, the 2.0. that I replaced it with is much better on fuel but doesn't ride as well, I replaced all the spheres and the rear suspension bearings but must admit I am still disappointed. I drove an XM a few months ago and its streets ahead for ride and handling.

Is that what they are going to use Mark. Interesting. It's clever, it can make a Lexus hop!

Found the vid. If the rumours are true, this could be interesting.... Certainly for the next C5.

The rumours of the time were that the system weighed about 300kg and cost more than the average mid size saloon for the suspension system on its own so I would think it is highly unlikely to see the light of day in anything other than the Bose test car ever again.

Shame
