Bit off topic but anyone help with this.

Found an iPhone 6 in the woods today while out walking, I put a note saying lost phone found and put my number in a clear bag and nailed it to the gate way that leads into the woods from the carpark and took the phone to charge it thinking they would call it, it had some missed calls but since I've picked it up nobody has rang, I tried ringing EE but can only get a machine, to talk to someone I need a phone number for an EE sim to get through the pre recorded drivel. It lost signal so guess its been reported lost/stolen.
Tried asking siri but it won't respond to anything now it's cut off so guess its been remote wiped too.

Local police stations are closed, don't know if its a Sunday thing?

I don't want to hack the screen lock because, well its not really the done thing with someone else's personal info so how on earth do I get it back to the owner????? I will have to stop into the Newport police station tomorrow and hand it in so it can disappear into lost and found I guess, bit wastefully really unless anyone has any better idea?

Is there a phone number under "medical ID"? From the locked screen swipe to activate keypad lock, press "emergency" and then press "medical ID" with any luck a phone number should be there, however if the SIM card has been deactivated it won't allow you to call from that phone. Worth a try. Ray.

Funnily enough my little boy also recently picked one up in our town and we planned to drop at the police station the next day, however a friend of the owner rang and collected the same evening. We were promised the owner would call in and present a reward but disappointingly that never materialized! So much for doing the honest thing eh!! Regards, Matthew T.

I don't claim to be an iphone expert but if the phone has been remotely wiped then it sounds as if the owner/supplier has already set up a feature called "find my phone" which allows the remote wiping and also uses GPS to to give a location for the phone when called from another iphone. Of course I might be talking rubbish. Can a local phone shop help?

I think your right Ken but all they had to do was call it and they could have come and got it, I took it to the police station this morning anyway, the copper on the counter seemed fairly sure it wouldn't be claimed now so it would just be destroyed due to the data protection act.
