All I know the front bumper has suffered somewhat, is out on one side and in on the other. Since it's bitterly cold, I'll leave it too. You wouldn't notice if you wouldn't know though.
I think we are entering a new ice age soon, by the way

Today, the XM has been driven over a big branch that fell just in front of the car. ABS was working....but the car couldn't be stopped and banged right over it.
It's best to drive over such obstacles with the brakes off, otherwise suspension, wishbone or subframe damage could ensue.

well, it's a tough one I guess. Hard to say what you'd do or not.
If she hadn't used the brakes, the branch might have hit the windscreen as it she saw it falling in front of her. I drove the car for 100+ miles today but seems as good as ever even though the wind played some tricks on her...
So forum is on line again, great!

Hi Jaap,
What I meant was if going over an obstacle is inevitable, release the brakes at the last moment to allow the wheels to run free.
I've seen cars that have hit kerbs with the wheels braking, pull the whole front of the car down.

Just put the 4 new Michelins on and did the tracking which was off, possibly due to that branch.
Changed the brake pads on the rear, found out that they are very similar but not exactly the same size as the xantia's.
Changed oil and filter but also saw that the warning light of the hydractive does not come on for a second when turning the key.
What could cause this, I did install this repair kit 2 years ago eventhough the system worked fine back then. Not happy with this..
