Not me, but what I find curious is the silver coloured strips that separate the door window glass from the 'quarter light' glass. On Battlescar I had two doors with this strip in black and the two doors with the same strip in silver. Ph 1/1.5 vs 2 related?

Some of mine are like this as well, they fade.

Like from black to silver?

I know the bx window bits faded from black to white (primer.........???)

I must be honest, whilst i think my C5 is the sensible choice, I don't like it...........at all. It needs to be VERY reliable over the next 24 months to proove itself, but ideally an xm would sit in it's place. My Dads I know will be a great car, but it's not mine yet.

Its a pity you got your fingers burnt with Battlescar, but its a valuable learning experience. C5s are getting cheap now, nearly too cheap to ignore. I'm not a big C5 fan.

PeterN could get a nice C5 estate to replace his 406 thing, now that he has converted to the HDi darkside :D :D :D

Yes. It's the galvanising showing through. All mine are in need of painting.

/\ Aaaah so that's what it is!

The C5 may as well be any other modern euro box, the hydropneumatic suspension being almost indistinguishable from those springy things. Even the HDi engine is a dissappointment. We struggle to get 40mpg out of it and yet my BX averaged 41 towing 1/4 ton of scrap behind it for 160 miles, 30 miles ultra urban and 350 screaming it up and down the motorway. BXs rock!

You are doing something wrong there then, I averaged over 60 mpg on our recent Scottish trip in the 406 :D

Robert

Have a look on the French car forum at the number of posts regarding C5's and then 406's

I think there may well be something wrong Peter, I'll have to see if a service improves things.

Hi Geoff,

My C5 was boringly reliable, comfy ride over all surfaces but just too normal to hold my interest. C5s often don't give great MPG, it's a big and heavy car. Most owners forget just how much extra weight is carried by a modern car to get it's good safety rating. There's all the extra gadgetry too. The BX was a nice car but in a serious collision with a C5 there wouldn't be a lot left of the BX or the driver. The same thing happened with the 405/406, the 1.9 TD was great in the 405 but struggled with the extra bulk of the 406.

Steve.
