Just before reading your message I was wondering if it was the receiver that wouldn't re-pair, maybe the plips do.Dean wrote: If the reciever will only alow two blips and that is the reason the xm will not match up to another blip do you think there is any way to clear its memory so you can start again?

Re: Central Locking Remote & Receiver
Hi Dean
Xantia IR programming instructions:
Needed if a key battery is replaced;
A Plip added or replaced;
System malfunction or failure;
Method:
Obtain all the remote controls and one plain key;
Ensure all doors are closed and unlocked;
Use the plain key and switch ignition to position 2.
Point a remote at the reciever by the rear view mirror from a distance of less that 10cm.
Press lock/unlock button ( on 2 button plip this the button by the red light).
Repeat the proceedure within 10 seconds to programme the remaining remote controls.
Confirm programming successful by locking, dead locking (2 button plip) and unlocking vehicle.

Re: Central Locking Remote & Receiver
Hi Dean
At present I have no way of knowing how the IR system works.
If the reciever stores the identity of each plip then there will be a maximum number of plips possible.
In this case the Plip could be programmed to be used on more than one car.
If the Plip codes itself to the recievers unique identity then the number of Plips per car would be unlimited.
In this case the Plip wipes out any previous identity when it is reprogrammed.
This convinces me that the best option is to set up the test rig on my Mk2.
I have now found a pair of Xantia 2 button IR Plips and a pair of ZX IR 1 button plips with matching reciever.
That will give me four recievers, Two 2 button plips and four 1 button plips to try out.

Here is that link I mentioned earlier about IR remotes. Its mainly for the older remotes, but does mention Xantia Kiekert systems. Unfortunately he doesn't have much information on these. But here goes, it may help, it'll definately help your French!

Hi Robert
My french is almost non-existant but the pictures tell a great deal.
It shows that the two sizes of receiver have the same electronics on the pcb's.
It also shows the early fixed code version and the later type.
It also gives the method of electronic signalling.
May take me a while to decifer but very useful.

John,
Xantia Series 1 PLIPs DO NOT need a re sync or pair after a battery change!! Only Mk.2 with RF plips need that...

Re: Central Locking Remote & Receiver
Hi All
Made up a patch lead this afternoon to add a MK1 XM plip receiver plug to my Mk2.
This brings the Mk2 Plip wiring plug out onto the dash as well.
The wires are:
IR pin 1 Earth
IR pin 2 No Contact
IR pin 3 Central locking feed A (Lock or Unlock TBC)
IR pin 4 Central locking feed B (Lock or Unlock TBC)
IR pin 5 +12 volts
RF pin A1 Central locking feed A
RF pin A2 Central locking feed B
RF pin A3 No Contact
RF pin A4 Not used
RF pin A5 Not used
RF pin B1 Earth
RF pin B2 No Contact
RF pin B3 +12 volts
RF pin B4 Not used on most XM's
RF pin B5 Reserved
I joined the two power supply leads then joined the two central locking feeds to add in the IR plip plug.
I plugged in the RF module to check that it still worked ok.
Got as far as deadlocking the car sat in the passenger seat, doors shut windows up.
The RF plip decided to die.
Worked out how to get out (panick, then drivers window down and use key in lock).
Had lunch an then started again with another RF plip and Receiver.
All the RF functions worked this time even when I plugged a IR receiver in as well.
Then tried some IR bits. The receiver was a Neiman IR2 with alledged matching single button plips.
No joy but it did not interfere with RF operation.
Tried again with a brand new Kiekert IR2 and a heap of IR plips.
No response at all until I realised the receiver sensors were covered by a protective plastic cap.
Tried with a Mk1 Xantia 2 button plip and got it to programme the Receiver.
Would not work properly but was trying to respond.
Never realised quite how directionally acurate you need to be with IR plips.
After a few more tries I decided to swap over the two IR plug central locking wires.
After that the Xantia plip reprogrammed and worked locking and unlocking the car.
Went back through the programming proceedure with both Xantia Mk1 plips and both the Mk1 XM plips.
All four IR plips worked the locking quite happily and so did the RF one.
So 5 plips all working and no interference even when you locked with one and unlocked with another.
Has convinced me that I will steer clear of IR kit for regular use.

Re: Central Locking Remote & Receiver
Does that mean if I get a single button XM Series 1 style plip and a 2 button Xantia IR plip that I can have 2 coded to the car?
If so I'll probably go down that route so I know I've got a spare set of keys for the car as I only have the one at the moment.
You can buy keys pre cut to order from the dealer to attach to the IR plips.
David.

Re: Central Locking Remote & Receiver
Hi David
Would seem so provided that you avoid early Mk1 XM plips AND receivers.
Need to do a bit more work to find out about that type.
My next tests will be to fit a different NOS Kiekert IR2 receiver and see if reprogamming some of those plips stops them working on the original receiver.
Then I will try the untouched plips to see if interupting the power supply to the original receiver has erased it memory.
Then I will try taking the batteries out of the plips to see if powering them down looses their memory.
I also need to set up a chinese RF set to run through the Mk1 XM receiver plug for BobH.
Anyone got access to a IR Xantia that uses a 2 button plip to tell me how many of the plug pins have wires back into the car wiring loom.
The XM Mk1 IR only uses 4 of the 5 plug pins. I need to know if Citroen used the spare wire for the second plip button signal.

Re: Central Locking Remote & Receiver
Not the result I expected.
Tried 3 different NOS IR2 receivers but did not reprogramme the keys.
All the plips stayed working with any of the receivers.
