I have today paid a deposit on my XM's replacement.

As a consequence, a new custodian is now sought for the V6. I have a little time before I collect the new car, so I am offering it on here and other forums before making a more general advert. Originally I said I was looking for £1400, but I am happy to listen to offers.

Within the last couple of weeks she has done four 250+ mile trips up and down the country and the computer shows the last tankful of petrol was used at 31.6mpg - I think the tankful lasted about 650 miles but I didn't take note.

The only thing that has changed since the original post is that the driver's door window has decided to remain firmly shut - no real surprise there - and I have had to top up the coolant once. Oil and water temps are steady and there is no cross contamination but I am not sure where the loss has ocurred.

If you were at the X Rally you will have seen her there.

I am not sure I am doing the right thing, but I do believe we regret more what we don't do than what we do do. (Hehe he said doodoo! )

I shall be composing an ad tonight to go in the usual places with an asking price of £1350. I did consider going the auction route to save time (maybe) but having just spend another £120 this morning to repair a coolant leak from the degassing chamber, I have a pretty fixed price.

Didn't actually specify a price but implied that it would be around four and a half to five - not hundreds.

Ah but the car has not sold yet Russ! I think £3-4K may be optimistic for a S2 24v, even with a low mileage and nice condition! Regards, Matthew T.

For £4500 - £5000 it would have to be seriously low mileage, minute detail of everything ever done to it, and in pristine condition.

Out of the kindness of my heart I'll give him a couple of grand for it.
