Central Locking Remote & Receiver

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Hi John,

If you've got one, that'd be great.

Let me know if you find it and we can come to an arrangement.

Regards

David.

DavidH

I have found 2 Mk1 plips that seem to work (red light blinks correctly).
They are in reasonable condition (button red symbol shows no wear).
Later type pcb so may work with Xantia receivers.
Still not found the bag of Mk1 bits as there is another couple of plips and a load of receivers.
Will try to find mine or make another test loom.
If that does not work out I will pass all the bits on to Paul to see if he can make up a working set.

These series 1 plip sets are numbered. Hopefully the stickers on the PCBs haven't come adrift.

Hi Robert

Can you supply instructions on how to read the codes.
These are the later Mk1 XM type.
They all look identical but the electronics are very different though both are IR systems.
Early type have coding to pair up by fixed copper links on the pcb's of both the plip and receiver.
Anyone cracked that link coding?
The later type are coded in the electronics similar design age to the Mk1 Xantia but single button.
That might well make them pair learning type.
If so they might be made to work with any Mk1 Xantia receiver.
Is the Xantia plip learning process set down anywhere? Links please.

Hi John,

I read somehwere on a French website about working out the codes of the plips, and how you can alter a receiver to work with another plip. I'll have to go looking for it again.

The Xantia IR plips reprogramme the car to work with the plip if I understand it correctly. I have reprogrammed Xantias to work with different plips; its a very simple procedure, with the key turned round to its last position, hold the plip up to the receiver and press continiously for 10 seconds and it will reset itself to the plip.

I'll have a look at my spare matched series 1 plip set to see if the markings are still there.

Have checked out some Plips that were handy.

Plip markings.

Late type Mk1 XM one button IR system:
X 012345 MM/YY - X is the version type; 6 digit number is the item unique reference; MM/YY is month and year of manufacture.

Mk1 Xantia two button IR system:
Y 012345 MM/YY - Y is the version type; 6 digit number is the item unique reference; MM/YY is month and year of manufacture.

Mk2 XM one button & two button RF rolling code system:
xxxxx.Nmy - xxxxx the unique alpha numeric code electric of the 3 piece remote set; N the plip number (0 or 1); my the manufacturing date code.

Reciever markings.

Mk2 XM two button RF rolling code system:
Code elec: E xxxxx DD/MM/YY - Bottom line of information on the case label.

IR roof recievers - late type - vehicle unkown:
kiekert IR2 - G104 017C 1W - have 3 of these all made within a few days, common markings except manufacturing date.

Will try to update this as we find out more.

After reading this i dug out my brand new old stock MK1 IR single button XM Plip and managed to code it to the Activa and now i have two working plips for it, the single button xm one and the original two button Activa one 8-) .

The single button plip wont code to the xm though, even though its an XM one :? , i have tried it a few times before, but the plip and reciever works on that anyway so im npot too fussed.

Hi Dean

Would be useful to know what is marked on the receivers in each of the cars.
Same applies to the plips as well but you might not be so keen about going inside them.
Photos would also help.

not exactly scientific but the single button has a sticker on it that says

B G104
Z
T 017C IW
Kiekert IR2

The Activa remote is of course the standard two button and i have no idea about the Activa reciever.

The reciever in the xm that wont talk to my new old stock single button is one of tthee retro fit ones that plugs into th joined wiring harness, it has the home made looking cancelation button under the stereo.

If the info is important i will take apart whatever is needed to find the numbers John.

Hi Dean

That marking matches up with some of the IR information I have put up.
The PSA IR recievers come in two physical sizes.
Small match box size and a double length version.
Mk1 XM, Xantias etc use the small type. BX and CX use the bigger older type.
These are also found in a number of PUG cars.
I believe the plug connections and wiring pin allocation are common to all of them.
I also hope that the code information is stored in the reciever.
As your two cars have the small version it might be worth trying the Xantia set in the XM.
First though unplug the reciever in the Xantia and then plug it back in and test the Plips.
This will tell us if the Plip coding is lost when the reciever has its power supply removed.
If this data is retained then your Plips should work without recoding when moved between cars.
If lost then try recoding in the new car.
Sorry to ask you to check this out but without an IR fitted car I cannot check anything.
Once we have done this it might be worth trying some of my IR recievers with your set up.

John
