Re: Dealer service tool kits & diagnostics
I don't have the actual Lexia central unit. I do, however, have an ELiT available.
The diagnsotic stuff are a load of connectors, adapters.....x2 huge fitted plastic cases, and about 2 cardboard boxes
worth of adapters....mostly unused, still in sealed bags.
I still like the idea of a central "borrowing library" for the stuff. Who would host it tho' ??
I don't have any image hosting links. If someone does, I can send them a photo of the stuff I have to
post on here. I can do a manual list in the meantime.
Alan.

Re: Dealer service tool kits & diagnostics
For an XM-era Citroen, an Elit is generally as good as a Lexia, better because it is quicker and easier to use.

Re: Dealer service tool kits & diagnostics
Here's a list of the diagnostics stuff I have for sale. Somone has offered to put some images up, so hopefully we'll see those soon. Reminder that I am down at Donington Park & Cadwell Park this coming w/e, so I could bring the bulky cases or the whole lot down with me....meet along the route from Ayrshire, or at venues mentioned ?

Re: Dealer service tool kits & diagnostics
That looks like a useful selection. I could host/curate, though I don't tend to get to many shows or meets where items could be handed out. I'm also only marginally in the centre of the country if you count Scotland, but quite happy to travel to meet other members to move bits around...

Re: Dealer service tool kits & diagnostics
I'm all for it - great idea. I just start surfing online in search for information about diagnostic tool (recently I've tried to "clean" my xantia and go bit too harsh on acceleration in third gear - engine warning sign showed up display and stayed there for good). I have no idea where and what to buy... and even how to use it
I had hope that maybe Paul could help me out, but in his health condition I wouldn't dare to ask him about anything.

Re: Dealer service tool kits & diagnostics
The ELIT is the predecessor to the LEXIA.
It is a simple programmed tool but fine for pre 2000 Citroens.
It has the advantage that it has a stand alone programme.
As with all these tools it only tells you what it finds.
That is often not sufficient to identify the actual faulty part.
You usually also need an understanding of how that part of the car is expected to function.
The simpler the tools used the nearer you get to identifying the faulty part.
That is why the blink code reader keeps getting mentioned.
It costs peanuts and it puts you a stage closer to the actual faulty part(s).
As to the test leads on offer despite having some I am afraid that I see little value in them.
They are part of a quite large collection specific to the XM that many dealers still hold.
A Solari station, ELIT or LEXIA is needed for the actual first stage testing.
There are test sheets giving follow up actions to get to define the actual fault(s).
This is where the test lead sets come in to be used when specified.
The mechanics get training courses.
The very recent example of the blown double injection relay on Whitexec's 2.5 shows the limitations of this kit.
Dealer, then Tec support first from Madrid and then Paris still took over 3 weeks to get sorted.
The Lexia and kit probably delayed the solution to the problem.
Chris supplying a factory new ECU then later asking that they rechecked some of the earlier simple things actually got the result.

Re: Dealer service tool kits & diagnostics
Ok so if I understand correctly I won’t be able to read outputs from individual sensors on this
only read the same codes as is shown with the blink tester
and do the same component tests as can be done with the blink tester

As you seem to know what you are talking about regards the various diagnostic equipment, it would seem to mexmexclusive wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 11:37 amThe ELIT is the predecessor to the LEXIA.

that you are the ideal person to take this stuff on for the benefit of the Forum users.
The concensus seems to be that a "lending library" idea would be best, and someone has to take the lead on
this, otherwise it will just languish in my garage, and will probably eventually get scrapped.....
What you reckon ?
Btw.....can you sign-off with a name pls. so I know who I'm conversing with.

Re: Dealer service tool kits & diagnostics
Hi Alan
Running this type of "repair kit" lending arrangement is actually a major undertaking.
The storage space, then the logistics, costs and getting kit back are all problems to resolve.
That would most likely fall on one single member who might later regret offering.
The nearest type of "car club service" is the FCF geographical list of LEXIA owners.
They do not lend the kit out but by arrangement meet and use their LEXIA to help an owner.
That way there is no sending out and getting back problems.
More importantly the LEXIA is used by someone with experience of its functions and fault interpretation.
They are also likely to have contacts to source special tools.
This mutual help system has worked well for a number of years with the work load spread through a good number of members.
Not all LEXIA reads are successful particularly with the later cars with a 30 pin diagnostic socket.
Specialist test leads seldom need to be used.
That applied even at dealer level.
Those you have almost certainly came from a dealers test kit.
That some are still sealed in plastic as supplied means they were never ever used.
The boxes of special tools are potentially slightly more useful but very seldom actually needed.
Despite the above I would not like your kit to be sent to scrap.
John
