Re: Manual Turbo Petrol
We're quibbling over £25 at the minute. But I wouldn't put it past the same boy to go ahead and try and find someone to do his crazy scrappage thing if I left it with him.

Re: Manual Turbo Petrol
Unfortunately many people seem to think that the scrappage system means their banger is worth a grand or two. They are either naive and mistaken or trying to con the prospective buyer of said car.
On the other side of the coin there was someone on the news a couple of nights ago who had saved a rare 50's classic from the scheme by buying it from the original owner who was about to scrap it for a new car and didn't have a clue what it was they had. I don't have a clue what it was they had either as I was only half paying attention at the time The implication on the news was that it was worth a lot more than 2 grand in it's own right.

It sounds like it could have been the same story I heard on radio 4 the other day, the car concerned being a Riley RME...rowanmoor wrote:Unfortunately many people seem to think that the scrappage system means their banger is worth a grand or two. Re: Manual Turbo Petrol
Hi,
I can't say that I'm yet that impressed with the TCT. I still find myself wishing I hadn't let the white 2.1 manual go that was my first XM - the 2.5 didn't leave me awestruck either.
I'd say low 20s around town is about right, which if running LPG is even lower.

Re: Manual Turbo Petrol
Well, as I said, don't expect face warping acceleration - it is a 2.0 engine!!
If you want an Xm that really motors, it really needs to be a saloon V6! Preferably manual too!!!
I've found the saloon 2.5's are quite handy in this respect too mind!

2.5's are excellent! I was very impressed by everything about it, the power delivery, the smoothness, the noise levels.
Update on the White XM, I am picking it up at lunch time. So I will take some snaps when she is clean and post them for your viewing pleasure.

Re: Manual Turbo Petrol
White Xm hatchbacks are the best! Such a nice colour on the Xm, although white exclusives look a little too white with the colour coded bumpers, the black and white theme looks superb. But then i would say that
Compared to our white one, the silver one, as nice as it is, doesnt stand out as much as the silver. Driving the white Xm around, especially since the wobby webs were added, i really notice a lot of people looking at it.
Although i must say, S1 Xms are not white, they are cream The colour must have been changed at some point was it? S2 cars are a pure white.
Chris.

Chris, don't you mean:
as nice at it is, the silver one doesn't stand out as much as the white one?
The problem with a white car is it can look substantially bigger and there's less definition
in the subtlety of design details and features. Unless of course it's scrubbed and polished
within an inch of it's life.
