Re: Who needs a CD player?
Hello again Derek, yep, I tried the equaliser but no joy. The Naviextras Toolbox is a program that you can download for free from the manufacturer of the IGO8 Gps program, it's used to update maps, add voices/speed cameras etc... not really a problem as such but I'd like to be able to use it

Re: Who needs a CD player?
Not me now. I just converted my Becker Audio-10 to play external MP3 instead of the tape. From my new Sony Walkman the sound quality is fine, that's why I went for the Walkman over an ipod or similar.

Re: Who needs a CD player?
Sorry Colin, I'm slow on the uptake. I've only just realised that you're in Norway so my speed cam program won't be much use to you.
I keep forgetting what an international community we XMers are.

I use a 3.5mm to tape-adapter, works brilliant! I still make mixtapes though. So yeah, who needs CD:s!?

Re: Who needs a CD player?
Wow i feel behind here! SD cards! USBs! I use neither of those
I still have CDs, still buy Cds and always listen to them. However mainly i have th radio on for the lastest music, when the radio is rubbish i go to my CDs or Ipod.
In the 206 and C5 i have an input lead from the back of the CD player so i can plug my Ipod into there, which is great quality but the volume level is a little limited if im wanting it to be loud.
I have a cassette adaptor thing for the Xm so i can play my ipod in there, i know it looks like a tape but its actually good quality and plays higher volume than my connects2 in the peugeot or C5.
But i dont have any cassettes, though both Xms have their original radio as i dont want to change that, i can live with the litte ipod adaptor thing.
I find the Xms sound quality quite good, its a lot to do with the quietness of the cabin when driving i think, but it is a nice sound. Although i would have to say the Peugeot has the best speakers of them all.
The 6 wheeler has a fairly modern Cd player, plays MP3s and has an ipod in on the front, as does the one in the Seat.
So long as it sounds good and i can listen to what i like then im more than happy
Chris.

Re: Who needs a CD player?
Hey Dieselman-how did you convert your car audio to play MP3 instead of tapes? I guess you did something to the tape head pick up ibside the machine? Any more details as it's something I'm toying with doing-I have a cassette adaptor but the quality's not too good.
Good to meet you at last weekends CXM rally.

Re: Who needs a CD player?
Replied Via PM.
Can anyone supply Alan with a Circuit diagram for his Phillips unit.? What model Alan?
For others info I tapped onto the board after the tape head pre-amp and cut the tracks to stop feedback, bridged the attenuation resistors to improve gain into te main amp, then cheated the cassete unit switch so as to make the unit think it had a tape in always.

Re: Who needs a CD player?
No. I can select between cassette or radio as required, just the same as if you have left a tape in the player but want to listen to the radio.
