Odometer not working ( sort of )

Hi guys a question. Having just aquired another XM and fitted a new speedo cable i have noticed today my odometer has stopped working. Its was working but today my trip said i did 10 miles my odometer said i had done 1... Now is there a plastic gear slipping or ??? is there a repair i can do ?
The car is a 1994 L reg 2.1 turbo diesel auto

That does sound like the odometer is internally faulty.
There is no known common failure item in the speedo head, so your options are either strip it an repair it, if possible, or replace the speedo head.

Thanks for the reply talking to Matthew who lives just up the road from me we are of the opinion that due to the cars lack of use ( 3000 miles in the past 15 years ) it is a bit gummed up. Checked it today and it is clocking fine so fingers crossed... Thanks anyway

It looks like P# 96102827 should be correct for the upper speedometer cable, to Rp 5803.

I think the chances of finding one by part number are extremely slim, just have one made. If yours is a male thread, contact Rob Draper, he had some of those.

No chance, there are only a handful of XM in Japan.

There also Peugeot and Talbot that also had some same parts as Citroën
