A bit negative, isn't it? On my very first day of XM ownership, I had the same problem as Jan. I temporarily fixed it similarly with the idea to buy a new one and promptly forgot.
+3 years later and nearly 70K miles later, I found my repair still to be holding

You will have to put up some pictures of your newly refurbished strut top mounts when they come back....

You were lucky Jaap All failed ones I've seen have been perished right along the pipe from start to end. Repair it in one place and it'll sure go somewhere else very soon...

Not you Jim, just expecting every pipe to burst, because of age. Mine is holding out and we'll see to it when I get oily staines on the drive..

So your C1 (I am not familiar with them) looks like the old model? A friend of mine used to love it too. Don't know why but now she has a Nissan Pixel-Pixton can't recall, of sorts P

Very similar to the C1 but not quite as cute and lovable and is a bit crude and cheap in places... The Pixo is actually a Suzuki Alto in thin disguise... Sian's has been a wonder of frugality and reliability She l;earned to drive in it, passed her test in it and it's never given her (or me!) a moment of grief at all. Excellent

I agree with Jim you are taking a risk of being stranded.
You will be rather lucky if stains on the drive tell you the pipe has gone again.
The front wheel arch returns usually go while on the move.
Drive with one gone for 10 miles or so and you will dump enough LHM to put the light up and loose the power steering.

If you bend an old rubber pipe that has broken you will see a series of cracks as though it has been attacked by a bacon slicer.
Any one of those will be the next one to go sometime soon.

New pipes cost £12 (dealer in NI posted) the same cost as the two litres of LHM that you will have to replace the next time your repaired one fails.
Best see to it on your drive on a sunny day of your choice not a wet night on a Irish country road when you have no spare pipe or LHM.

Well, you've got me all scared now! I must see to it finding new ones and pronto. Just to reassure you: I do carry the means of fixing these rubber hoses in the boot. It's a plastic return hose of some sort of citroen can't recall, that fits inside the pipe. Over the brake I've got a bigger hose of sorts of some citroen, can't recall, and to get it tight I've got plenty of tie wraps and jubilee clamps.
And a bottle of LHM, of course. So I'm not that, unprepared:) but I'll take your good advice. I too would hate the thought of doing that fix late at night in rain and wind. So it's on my 'to-do list. Promised!

The clips are normally reusable, one spare new one might be wise.
I got my last pipes from Hallidays, Derry I think.
Easy people to deal with and often with a bit of haggling better on price than most dealers.
