The red bumper trim makes me think it's a sapphire 2.0iGLX, though the badge is a bit low and no grille appears apparent.

That is the actual car he has, the only one in the UK and maybe for good reason, it was bought by a man who went to the US to work on secret spy plane kind of stuff and he managed to get a pre release model, he bought the new 1989 model in 1988, must be well connected, he then took it with him wherever he went and finaly brought it home to England.

I think it looks better than the MK2 one we got but i dont rate its 2.2 110bhp engine although very smooth and torqey, i think i will stick with the XM.

I wondered about a probe, but when checking only thought about the ones we got, which were different.

Was that one a rebadged Mazda as well?

My understanding is they are rather lacklustre both inside and performance wise.

I knew it couldn't be the soft 1990s probe we got, like Will thought of, but couldn't find a pic that matched. That red line was quite distinctive. Then suddenly that pic popped up. Perfect match.
Interesting story though. Wow! Don't swap for it though..... No. Nooooooo. No!

I believe the engine was Mazda and the shell, the headlamps were lifted of an RX7 and the interior from a bland that time forgot, interesting motor but not that interesting.

Evening all

Been out for two trips to the Great north island this week and it is doing the old girl some good, cruising up and down the A27 at about 8 or 9mph has given it a good clean out and its driving well and the brakes have a lot better bite to them, being covered in wax and never used for years made them feel a bit funny since its been on the road, fettling the callipers helped a lot a while back but now they feel spot on, amazing bite at high speeds rather than the previous slightly numb feeling.

Just renewed the insurance this week and the MOT is to be done on thursday before being taken back up north next weekend.

Got stopped by a couple of guys in a Cmax while i was waiting in traffc on the way home this evening, wanted to know what it was and why he had never seen one before, i think they thought the lights and wheels were OE but i didnt have time to go into that, people behind us in both lanes were getting a little humpy about the lack of traffic flow due to some car bores
