Good luck with the new V6 Jim. I've found it to be the most reliable of all the XM we've owned and we must have had about 10 now. Keeping it below 100mph on the motorway is the only problem I've got with ours!

I agree with Paul regarding the dashboard.
Paul, I suspect the S2 engine refinement is just down to newer mounts.

Not sure Will... the 2.1 TD are quieter in the car as a Whole..
PS: Will, did you have a look for any blown away Manderin Panels??

No, but I will this w/e, last one was cold and wet. They are there, just not sure the condition is that good.

Gonna be better then the ones on the car.. The best parts are going on my SED, they are on the D donar.. But your bits Id like to put on the D to do up a little to prehaps sell on..

Great news Jim, post some piccies up so we can see.
I think S2 are far more refined simply down to sound insulation. I drove both S1 and S2 back to back ...both bosch 2.1, and they just are quieter. Almost like a different car.
S2 Gripes...., hate the dash design, steering wheel is bigger than the S1 and as Paul has mentioned all XM should have the S1 spoiler. That lip is not enough..looks unfinished.
I would ideally like to try and add more insulation at some point, see if that changes things.
But I'm intrigued by the idea of fitting S2 engine mounts.....
