It's called a lack of suitable cars for sale (in the last two years)!
It strikes me that when one cannot find what one wants after two years, that the search has to be broadened to similar but less desirable specs!

it would take 1/10th of the time to sort the auto out i think.........converting an Xm to manual would be a sizeable task indeed.

One of the things I don't like about the Beemer is the fuel consumption but it does manage a best of nearly 50 mpg, I don't expect the auto would.

You would have no problems getting over 40mpg in an Auto on day to day use Peter.
