I'll just through in the idea of changing both of the front ones, Jim.
Just cause I had to change the second one as well, see my topic. I have spare ones from the donor that were replaced at some stage because I was able to take them out:) Strangely enough, the car when it was driving, had the ABS light out as it should be after starting, however it would come on only, when braking hard and when the ABS would not kick in when needed. Worth another topic I guess....Did your sensor come out easily, mine were extremely stubborn to get out.

All xm sensors are an a r s e to remove.. due to the O orface for the sensor rather then the C that the xantia uses at the front..

Jim I am sure, will use copper grease, it's definitely worked on my donor car. Don't know when they were changed but it looked like a long time ago. But agreed, once stuck you need a drill, no less.

I love chillies with a passion Mark, the hotter the better...
I love chillies too and grow them annually. There is a popular variety here called "taka-no-tsume", which translates as "hawk's claws", because of their shape. They are fiery hot and I doubt you'd be able to eat them like the ones you get in the UK. I've also grown larger size chillies, larger than the hawk' claws, from specially ordered seeds. These were an unbelievable hot sensation as well!

Currently harvesting:

These plants easily produce 100 chillies!

Not tried to remove the sensor yet Jaap but I see it's in a hole rather than the crescent.. Normally my tool of choice is a pair of locking pliers and twisting after a good douse in Plus Gas.

I've loosened its securing bolt which is half the battle. They often shear in Xantia hubs... In the past I've had to retap the thread oversize..

Still, when I have a new one if the old one needs some brute force I have the tools ;)

Jan, those chillies look absolutely delicious and very decorative. As attractive as flowers and far more useful....

I shall try growing some next season. Bit late now sadly..

My new ABS sensor has just turned up from ECP complete with an enormous free can of QX Maintenance Spray, a WD-40'esque sort of thing thing.. Delivered before their deadline too :D

Going to fit it now as that'll mean I can go to Manchester and back tomorrow without the niggle of an ABS light glowing in my face...

Job done, ABS sensor replaced. Light is out :D

That's not quite such an easy job  I thought I was going to be lucky as I got the top plastic bit moving... Or so I thought...

It was just the top and that came away leaving the sleeve in the hole.. A punch and cold chisel soon saw it off...

Putting the new one in was scary. It's so tight in the hole despite me cleaning the hole very carefully and making sure all muck and rust was banished. I gently and gingery tapped it in and all is good :D

I was really worried how hard I was tapping it though..
