Very pretty the 190 Charles. Nice colour too, never seen this one before. BTW, am I right to think that, on this type of Merc rear self-levelling, it's in fact a combination spring-type suspension, i.e. it works in any given time on both the metallic springs *and* the gas? And getting more gas-dependent as load goes up?

BTW good to see you've gone for DTM-style wipers on the XM, makes it very racy indeed. It's one of the first things I did too to mine after buying it.

I think the suspension is exactly as you describe Jorgy. The colour is Almandine, which is a very expressive one - quite rare on a 190 Cossie, as most had grey black or silver.

A sign on what's to come - light is fading outside, so the colours are being mucked around by my camera's light adjustment for the strong halogen, but look at the reflections!

Final one, Vince has just left to get home, I need to get this out for this evening, so it's going to get all dirty again, but what a job - the colour is superb. Proper pics for a much better day with the sun out, this is a somewhat chaotic garage!

I'm curious to see the difference between your car and mine now. You see I've always done my cars by hand, T-cut, polish, the lot, so to compare mine with a car done with a buffer by a guy who actually does know what he's doing heightens my curiosity.

Looking good. Mercury is a great colour for an XM and your car is in fine shape as well.

Stunning, why can't I polish cars like this. I've polished 1 XM and now it looks likeit's never been polished. The other one was done by Robert I think and is still quite throwing the water off easily. So I did something wrong and spent way to much for the polish I used - even asked for advice with the Halfords man..

Couple of hard days there..only took 3.5 hours to get home. Not bad really. ..
Someone asked what do I think of the colour?
I really like it : )
