Bad times! Looks like a similar sideways manoeuver to the one the somewhat crazed Fairchild USAF pilot attempted with similar results in the 90s with a full size one.

I remember reading something about the B52 having a shallow banking angle limit, that is, if the aircraft banks to far to one side, there is a complete loss of lift and it simply falls out of the sky (the B52 doesn't have the usual control surfaces that other aircraft have).
That was the reason given for the Fairchild crash. The full accident report is available on the web.
Perhaps this was the reason for the scale model crashing. It certainly seemed to fall out of the sky.
I remember another large scale B52 model doing exactly the same thing about ten years ago (it was shown on a Sky documentary). That one had eight ducted fans if I remember correctly.

That was an awefull accident........i think the trouble with something that heavy and with the wing type it has if you start to side slip the recovery space needed is just huge, it is after all a high altitude long distance bomber, buzzing around an airfield obviously isnt its thing

The sad thing was that it wasn't really an accident, more an irresponsible pilot attempting a manouver that the aircraft just wasn't capable of...

Yes you are of course right, i guess he just thought he could get away with it, but couldnt.

It proved the designers right though. He should've believed them..!!
