Well JamieB couldn't have put it better, so I won't repeat his affectionate cavil. I will however add the well known 'flaw', which was the use of substandard electrical components – connectors in particular – as a cost-cutting measure. This exacerbated if not caused many of the failures, often repetitive, in the what I still maintain is a complicated car of its time (e.g. ABS warning lights, dot matrixes, sun-roofs, window regulators, heating arrangements, pumps etc., etc.).

My current and previous Citruins (ZX, Xsara) had and have NO electrical faults but they are, I admit, boring and uncomfortable cars compared to the XM!
