Cuiously, while in BMW's ownership the Rover 820 had the lowest recorded warrentee claims accross the whole of the BMW groups products

I've fancied a crack at a 220SDi for a few years now but the A Class came up at the right price/time.

My brother owns a few 'Rovers' - 2x Discos and a 420 SDi. They all seem to rot and let water in but the price is right I guess.

The 220SDi uses half a BMW 3 series 6 cylinder engine...

Very good on fuel, too I beleve..

Sorry paul, but that's total and utter utter utter utter rubbish!, the 220SDi uses the L-Series diesel, a develepment of the Perkins Prima unit that was in the montego, which itself was a deiselised O-series. The L seireis is very very strong though and relaible, unlike the BMW unit used in the rover 75 which eats its flywheel for fun

Both of us are fans of the prima unit. It always seemed good on fuel though a little smokey. In it's time a record holder I think. There was a member on Honest John's site called Dizzy that worked on the Prima development.
