First time connection - radio is powered, with ignition on and off, and aerial getting a good signal. Now for the speaker wiring!

Mine was a simple ISO hookup at the back which must be a Mk2 thing as i couldn't see any other connectors except for the remote buttons

Now enjoying a celebratory cup of Russian Caravan tea to warm me up. Series 2 are entirely ISO so very easy indeed, this was actually much easier than it looked, all the wiring for the speakers was the same colour and format as the ISO connecting thingummy, I even suspect there is a Citroen connector to ISO plug, but this was more fun. I could even get it set up with an aerial for GPS but as an old CD based system, I think that would be a little more retro than I'd like. Now to sort the speaker covers so the tweeter can poke through, but that's for another week.

Ahhh your unit is swapped around compared to mine as well, I fancy this idea as mine looks semi decent I don't want no riff raff looking in and then breaking in for it

Oh yes, anyone looking in will simply see a black plastic panel. It's much more discreet. It could do with a dust though, looking at it!

Does the cover close over both the radio and the cubby unit?

My little fake wood one only does the top portion which is the cubby unit on mine and kind of sucks as a double one would be much nicer

It covers the whole gubbins. It does look a little slab sided though, so I suspect the S2 design was to break it up a little. Looks much better with the more expensive fake wood!

I sure think that slab would deter thieves though!
Probably wouldn't be too hard to get the wood cover off two mk2 units and glue them on though they wouldnt sit flush and a cheap vinyl would look cheap as well.

The mk1 Exclusive spec did. And this is transferable to mk2. Only thing is that mk1 usualy is real wood and mk2 chinese imitation so you'll need to swap all wood parts.

That wouldn't work too well as the mk2 wood bits are slightly different shapes to the mk1 bits from what I've seen
