That car looks stunning in reality, white with no sunroof...

The car does look immaculate, apart from the damage of course. But I don't like painted white trims. It's white overload.

Nothing much to report as far as the reliability of the car is concerned. Starts first time, runs lovely, ride is gorgeous, even the electrics are behaving themselves - well almost.

Due to selling one family car too many in a short space of time (same day  ) Goldie has been pressed into service for a short while. Although the weather is not good for her it will do her good to be used before she goes into her winter hibernation at the end of the month.

Work is still solid and will stay like that until the new year which is why I've decided not to do the rear end until the new year. The test is due in November but, even though all the MOT certificates show November/December, I'll wait until February to test her when work is thin and I can spend some time on her. I want to drop the rear sub-frame and wheel carrier and remove some of the hub and braking system in order to have them cleaned up. I'm hoping I can get three days clear in the new year to do it all in one go, under-sealing everything as well.

I'm still in need of a couple of rubbers for the washer jets and the headlight relay needs a new connector. The auto on the heaters doesn't work even though the heaters work on 1 to 4 but otherwise all seems well.

My plans too Neil, I must get under the back of mine and treat it. I have the stuff ready to go, just need the time and weather. Mind you, all this rain is testing out the sunroof nicely!

The car's brilliant Jim, running sweetly, just minor hiccups as I've stated. Not impressed with having it out in the rain but it has served its purpose in that there are no leaks.

Considering that the XM was conceived as a large executive car back in the late 80's using Goldie as work transport for the past couple of weeks has been an insight into how things have changed. When returning to the car in the works car park it seems small sunk down on its haunches but is no bigger than a modern Mondeo or Vectra. Then today on leaving work I found her between two company Mondeo's, both in a dull, dark blue, and the gold colour stuck out like a sore thumb.

One of the Mondeo men was putting his stuff in the boot and commented on my car. "Bloody long time since I've seen one of them . . . er, what is it?" I put my gear in the boot, leaned into the car and started her up, and then stood there with him whilst she did her stuff. ;)

His face was a picture as the suspension rose - "F*** me, that's amazing, how the hell did you do that?" Twenty minutes later after showing him the intricacies of the whole car, never mind the suspension, as I drove off he had a wider smile on his face than I did. :D

It AMAZES me that soo many people still dont know about the suspension rise!

The b l o o d y system has been round since 1954 for gods sake! Where have they been hiding!

Nice one Neil, love reading those comments! The Xantia lost this when they stuck anti sink on them

I cant wait to get back in an XM and expect things like this!
