The 2.5 is the only XM with a modern electronic cruise control.
If it is missing you just buy and fit the two switches and it enables after the ignition is turned on.
I cannot understand why Citroen did not add that feature the later ES9J but went for the age old Vac cruise system.

Jaap, you may find you have all the wiring in place for cruise and the mounting bracket and ball on the throttle shaft for the vacuum bellows so technically you could fit it if you could bet hold of the ECU, sash switch, relay, vacuum pump, bellows and the stalk. I'm surprised at least one of yours does not have cruise...
The 2.5 is a fly by wire isn't it John? So therefore ideally suited to electronic cruise. The ES9 still has an old-fashioned cable operated butterfly rather than one driven by a stepper motor so I guess vacuum cruise was the only option. Also, the old Hella system was/is a well proven one that's stood the test of time. Just an XM being an XM perhaps? I don't know..
I noticed this afternoon the XM had a distinctly soft tyre. 'Fiddelsticks, I've picked up a puncture' I thought. And in a nearly brand new tyre too
I moved the car to get it within range of the airline and found in the 10 or so yards it had travelled the tyre was even softer.
I blew it up on the airline and put the car on high to take off the wheel with the intention of taking it to the tyre place for repair. I looked in vain for the nail or screw though and in fact spent half an hour when the wheel was off the car looking for it with a microscope almost. I searched and searched but could find nothing, not a sausage. I even made the tyre wet to look for bubbles. None. Not even the tiniest hint of a bubble or anything. I checked the valve. Seemed OK. No rim damage and I know I've not kerbed it or done anything silly with it.
Couldn't have been tampering as the valve cap was in place.
Previous to this all the tyres on the XM have been brilliant at holding pressure so it's not a porous rim or anything like that and it was Ok yesterday.
When I initially blew up the tyre I set it to 2.6 bars. Two and a half hours later it was still 2.6 bars. I put it back on the car, went for a short spin and checked it again. 2.8 bars. I've just checked it yet again some 5 hours after blowing it up and it's still on 2.6 bars.
So what's going on? I suppose the test will to see how it looks in the morning...

Sometimes XMs with 205 tyres look under inflated when they are at the correct pressure.

I think I once had a tyre with a damaged bead which would leak if the wheel stopped with the wrong orientation, due to sidewall flexing.

Jim, this sort of thing happened to mine last year. One rear tyre got quite low when it was off the road having its brakes done. Once they were, I reversed the car out the lane and in doing so must have broken the seal on the bead.
The tyre place I took it too, did a complete test on it and even got his boss to look at it. No nails no puncture. It wa the broken bead seal.
Refitted for £20.

A quick look this morning indicates the tyre is still hard. I shall get the pressure gauge on it after breakfast.
