The CX GTI Turbos be it Series 1 or Series 2 are excellent cars when they're right. I've praised them enough on here so I wont go into raptures about them again... ;-) Although I will comment that a Maikonics Kitted CX GTi Turbo 2 is oh so much fun. You're looking at 250BHP and 320 FT/Lb Torque... We've a Maikonics Kit here still and I'm thinking of putting it on dads Prestige Turbo 2... There's only around 10 'kits around worldwide from what I've researched...

Re Paul's comment about GTi Turbo 2 power is that they're probably around 180/185BHP what with the intercooler and other small changes. I believe they didn't alter the specs due to tax laws or something.

PRV 24V is a nice engine, dad commented that the power delivery is nice and smooth and you can tell its not turbocharged like the CX GTi Turbo. Hasn't pushed it much he although definitely feels that there's a good amount of power three. I distinctively remember Roger saying that "I've had 150MPH out of one of those on two occasions".

Our C6 is just the 2.7 HDi although does tank along very well indeed and don't forget they're Twin Turbo too! I can imagine that the 3.0 lump is even better.

My figures quoted for XM performance is not Press figures... they are.. Real. My own, and someone I know who gave up at 155 mph...!!

Reality is, though, the number of occasions you can drive a reasonable distance like an utter loony is quite small.

So it makes more sense for the car to exist in a form that reflects its ability to make use of the tax and insurance paid on it! I bet there aren't many RROC members doing manual or diesel conversions - yet to me, the XM and 605 were equals for transport of the gentry.

Which Steve... the Gumtree one, or the one I mentioned???

The Gumtree Black one will be a 24v, but the later quad cam belt driven PSA engine.. NOT the PRV Chain engine, and auto box only..

Is that the one with the autoadaptive gearbox (ES9 engine) or not? Sorry, still learning!

Yea its the same setup as the xantia v6s.... i think only the v6 24v psa engine xm's were the only autos to get that adaptive box... Td's and 16v petrols stuck with the mechanical auto box..

i may be wrong though...

Thats my understanding too Paul, only the psa V6 got the HP20 adaptive box and all other engines got the HP18

Hi Paul,

I was meaning the Gumtree one. Hmmmm 24v! Looks very similar to Derek Ws', that was a nice motor. Has anyone heard from Derek recently?

Thanks for the info.

Steve.
