Very interesting indeed. Thanks for this. I need to apply some anti-corrosion shutz type stuff to some of my Xms and Cxs.

Got the car back today, I have to say the garage have done an excellent job of the welding, it looks very tidy & neat, no raised edges which is in contrast to some previous welding work.

Putting the wings back on tomorrow morning then going to take it in a Citroen specialist to have all the belts & tensioners changed. Decided to keep the car long term now after spending all this money on it. I'm just going to keep it as a motorway cruiser & use my other car (a Seat Leon tdi) for the more local journeys.

Anyone know how the two plastic bits that fit on top of the wings, either side of the plastic scuttle cover are meant to fit on properly. As far as I can see it seems they just sort of clip on although it doesn't seem very secure. It sort of looks like part of the plastic has broken but I can't be sure. I wouldn't be very confident driving at speed with just clipping them on so might use some sort of sealant to hold them in place?

The end caps do clip on. If you fit the upper part, and then push the lower part in, they should fit on fine. It is common for the tabs to break. Some bathroom sealant is the answer to stick these on. Avoid proper stuff like no more nails as you might want to remove these end caps in the future!

As a direct contrast to Robert, I always fit the lower clips first then press the upper section into place. I do the reverse for removal, top first.

Coming to this a bit late... Find a better tyre place! If you still regularly visit Redhill then I can recommend Watling Tyres (they are behind the Ford garage on Brighton Road). They know how to jack a car up properly and are generally very reasonably priced as well.

My jacking points were all bent from previous owners visits to tyre places and over the years they rotted from the inside out from the jacking points all the way along. Last year I had to have the whole passenger side cill done. The drivers side is still holding, but it will just be a matter of time.
