I am surprised! what are the prices for the track rods though? the ends are new but the inner joints come as part of the rods themselves and are starting to show their 18 years of service so im thinking about replacement.

Mine is an SE, walnut trim, satnav, TV, rear view camera and a lot of things I don't know about, that didn't stop it breaking down on me six days after I bought it, fuel pump in the tank, still, I got one off ebay the next day for £29.99, fitted it and the beast lives, very easy to work on, if only they made the XM like that .... or a BMW with hydropnumatic suspension.

Hi Dean,sorry, missed your query on the steering tie-rod,price is £51.34p for the 18mm and £70.78p for the 22mm.
