Hi Guys,
the thing with the Citroen car clubs that you need to remember is where they started. Out here is was decades ago, when tractions were "old cars" and the DS was an amazing new car. In order to keep the cars on the roads, they needed to form clubs and "share the knowledge". Back then most people probably worked on there own cars.
A good example is the clubs I'm a member of. When my parents were my age, and I was a little kid, at the Citroen car club meetings everyone was in the 20's/30s/40's. These days if you go to an outing the average age would have to be 70, and I'd be the youngest person there. The club demographic has changed. Most younger people aren't interested in old cars, the modern cars can't really be worked on "DIY" and are almost throw away appliances.
The only car car clubs will survive into the future is try to get *anyone* in and show passion for the modern cars.... Once interested it's quite likely these poeple that own the Xsaras/Saxos/C4/C5/etc.... will form an interest in the DS's that the club members interest lays in the most. I certainly couldn't care more or less about the modern cars, and have no ambition to ever own one, however unless the clubs change ( yes change ) in order to bring in the next generation of car owners, they will simply die out. eg: Where will our local clubs be in 10years time ?? A lot of the members will be into the 70s and 80s ..................
These internet forums are also taking over a lot from the cars clubs of the past. Would you rather come here and talk cars, or go to a meeting, reading the previous minutes, read the financial reports, go over all the sh!t that must be done to stay a club (damn there boring). I hope the car clubs don't die out, but that's what I envision happening in the future.
The Poogoe guys even on Aussiefrogs complain that there is barely and "RWD" topics .... clubs are the same ... If you want the members in them to show interest in XM's for example ......... Volunteer .... get in there, jump up and down, talk XM's, submit XM articles, drive everyone insane, before long XM owners will know the club is the place to be to meet other XM enthusiast and join (just like the current DS members

How much conversation about CX's does my constant bombardment all over the world on forums and in car clubs generate ..... Lots right ?? Even if it's in a negative way to "The bloody australian that won't p!$$ off and go away"
I'll say it again, who cares if people think XM's are classic or not. If they suddenly became highly sought after and considered "classics" there value would increase to the point where a lot of the true enthusiasts could no longer afford to own and run one ( just like DS's ).
