That's the truth! Even in 1st its crawl until I touched the ramps, then I'd have to put more throttle on, which would be too much and it would shoot up! Glad I had a car-knowing mate to help!

Actually I found an auto better. Just let it crawl up to the ramps and with a bit of power, ease up. Doesn't roll back either. Much worse in the KA!!

That is true actually, you really do need someone to tell you when to stop!

That LHM looked incredible, I've never seen any go yellow before and the filters were very bad.

I use ramps all the time, I've only once nearly come a cropper when I applied too much acceleration in a high torque automatic and they shot out. I nearly went over when driving a VW Scirroco on and forgot it had no brakes.

Right, progressing with this coolant leak.

Drove the missus and baby to a carboot yesterday, and used about 7 litres of water all in over 30 miles. Put the heaters on full a few times though to help things out.

However, I think I've found the hole. Behind the thermostat is a pipe which comes out (about 10mmish), runs round the back of the engine and goes into the heater matrix. The same piece of pipe (it''s joined) comes back out, has the top bleed valve on and joins another pipe after that. There is a small pinhole just after the pipe exits the engine, which dribbles out water on tickover. However, revving the engine causes a huge stream of water to come out and soak the windscreen (had previously been bouncing off the bonnet) Aha! I'd been driving at 50-60, no wonder it was using 2 litres plus every 8-10 miles)

Phoned Citroen in Wycombe just in case, and they were helpful. Chap said it was part number 1351K1, and they hadn't had any in stock since 2004. He then said the price was £85 ex VAT, so no big deal it being NLA anyway.

So, short term, I'm about to drive to Halfords (in the missus manual meriva - ) to get this http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_255230 in the hope that it will either reduce it to a dribble or stop it short-term. Will probably either try and find a proper pipe repair kit (short piece of plastic tube, jubilee clips and another piece of rubber hose), or post a wanted out for the whole pipe.

Either way, fun fun fun (and I'll be glad if it is this pipe, rather than anything more scary)

I seem to have stemmed the leak.

Got the aformentioned repair kit, which is a roll of cloth tape, and a roll of self-amalgamating tape, and set to work. Moved the jubilee clip right off, and failed to get the rubber pipe off, it's corroded well onto the head, so did the best I could by feeding the tape around.

Put the jubilee clip back on, trying to get it to cover the original hole to help a bit. Went for a mile long drive just now and it is still dry!





The header tank seems to be pressurizing now too, which it wasn't before. Nevertheless, it is a bodge, and I'm off to makea wanted post right now to get it fixed properly!

Also did some citrobatics whilst waiting to see what happened, and it fell to low from normal very quickly, then going from low to normal, the back rose up fine, the front didn't, then shot up to 'high', then settled back down the normal. Turned her off and left her after that, plus she was getting hot. Is that normal after an LHM change? She drove fine etc.

The throttle body is covered in oil too, any ideas where that could be coming from? Hear a loud hiss of air when knelt down level with the header tank on the drivers side. Can't feel any though.

Lovely clean paintwork is now covered in bird poo and oily handprints again!

I suspect the suction hose is drawing air since being disturbed. Try twisting it on the spigot, if it twists, it's loose.

Is this the solex thing infront of the block? Will have a play and see what I can find.

Did get an alarming few drips of petrol under the car from the engine this morning. Drove to work fine though, and has stopped now. Will keep an eye on it!

Well, just checked the coolant and it's dropped about an inch, but I imagine that's the air coming out of the engine. Would have emptied the header tank based on the distance it was doing it, and the distance to work, so will top it up later and keep an eye on it. No more petrol drips yet, and citrobatics performed faultlessly.

New wiper blades fitted, and working well. I forgot I rainx'd the screen on Sat, water beaded off a treat with the screenwash. Want it to rain now! Jets are blocking up again though, have a plan for that however.

ATF arrived too, so that's saturday's job sorted!

Left the sunroof open, it's like an oven in there!
