I'm not sure falling out of an XM is likely.

I remember now that the one I used was in a Ford Fiesta rental car (in the UK), in about 1989. It was a real pain, as you had to take the key out of the ignition to disarm the immobiliser, which would rearm if you didn't start the engine quickly enough.
