I'll do that if necessary Charles.. What put me of about C and C was reports of being constantly harassed by fraudsters and other assorted slimy types offering silly money if you’d arrange export to some distant corner of the galaxy..

Bit off-putting as my monthly quota of profanity to hurl at them is currently almost expired

Not my experience, all three who called were English, the two tardier ones were from oop North certainly. I suspect the fraudster community would be pretty unlikely to target a Citroen XM!

That's good to hear Charles If it does not sell on here or the FCF then I'll give that a go before the 'bay is tried.

What's their fees like compared to the 'bay?

If all that fails then the scrapman will be summoned I can't hold onto four cars and my storage is for a limited time only.

I truly hope the last option is not invoked but with my exceedingly low stress and aggro threshold I'd not suggest any bets are placed on that not happening.

Let's face it Jim....that isn't going to happen (thank goodness)!

Car and Classic is free, Jim; so is Gumtree and that found the buyer for my Clio. He was a local chap who was attracted by the low mileage and cared very little about anything else.

I do agree with you about the stresses of selling a car, I hate it. Whenever I sell a car I put a lot of time and effort into compiling an advert or adverts and you can never tell whether it is really any good or not, and it is equally hard trying to decide on the right price to ask.

If you can avoid all that rigmarole it is to be recommended; I am buying the Clio's replacement from Chris and a few months ago he returned the compliment by buying my C4 from me - no ads, no "wots yer best price m8" etc etc

Of course, selling to someone you know does carry the added worry of what if it goes bang? I once bought a Renault 4 from a teaching colleague and it only lasted a fortnight before it collapsed as Renault 4s have a habit of doing.
