wanted - manual heater control panel

Mine isn't the gear, it's the flaps being stiff to operate causing te control to jump teeth as the knob is turned.

It might get better with some use...he says, hopefully.

Thats EXACTLEY what I was saying will... as the flaps are stiff, the gear jumps teeth....

How do you get the control out of the dash? it's as if that was the car was built around it.

I know Will... Dash face panel needs to come away, however, its not enough.. The whole dash appears to have been put in after the heater panel was fitted.....

Thats why I gave up, and left mine on Window and feet...

I need to have another go at this. iirc, removing the dash skin isn't too bad a job.

No its not will, its held at the sides and theres three screws along the windscreen demister vent...

The steering colum and instrument pos needs to come away too...

Especially as it's not the control at fault.

Its not unknown for the spring steelclips that hold the bowden cable outers to release.
A pain to dissmantle to get to but an easy fix.
Auto A/C panel is far easier to work on.

I had had the bowden cables bend round on themselves and not operate at all on Xantia air recyclers, and on BXs, never had this problem on a XM before, possibly because I have never had the simple dual zone cars that is probably 100% mechanical in operation unlike the electronic rotary dials system in S and VSX cars.
