Sad news although you can replace metal but not life and limbs so apart from everyone being
shaken up, all's as good as could be wished for under the circumstances.

You can't be too hard on the Missus - it only takes a momentary lapse of concentration to 'lose it' as
I well know from just a week back where I've probably gone and totalled two of my Xm's on the same
day after having a blemish free accident account for over 10 or so years. Considering it's supposed
to be Summer, the weather conditions really haven't helped either.

I don't want to sound like Job's comforter, but the bus shelter probably costs more than the price
of a new C6...

Damned strong car, the Xm and you can't beat having large acreage of metalwork surrounding you.

Thanks for your concern folks, everyone seems to be OK, Christine has a few seat belt burns and the paramedic said she will be a bit tender tommorrow. Thank goodness everyone had their seatbelts/restraints on.

I have the replacement already, the white one, that will be on from the 1st August.

Thank God no one was injured in this incident. I hope all recover quickly from the injuries and shock of the accident and please give my regards to your wife. Thank goodness for seatbelts.

This reminds me of a similar happening with us. My wife was PARKING our 1993 Xantia where she always had done in a sururban side street, prior to walking into work. She had pulled in behind an AX and realised that she was too far out from the kerb. Somehow she managed to jump the car 6ft sideways, smashing the wing of the AX, careered down the footpath tipping a low garden wall and hitting a low gatepost pillar cap which opened up the front wing and driver's door like a tin opener. She then carried on to the second gatepost which the front tyre hit, smashing off the front lower suspension arm, driveshaft and part of the diff. Having gone that far there was more work to be done. The car bounced off the 2nd gatepost and hit the front of a parked 2yr old Mondeo. All this done trying to park (not many people can do this).
My wife was uninjured exept for her pride and the cause will remain a mystery. The car was a 1.8LX auto petrol. The only thing we can think of is as it was an auto she may have hit the loud pedal instead of the brake.

Blimey Peter - I'm glad no-one was seriously injured!

Just had the car recovered so can view it in its full glory - its bent! First major accident Christine has had in about 45 years of driving.

I took some photo's for the more inquisitive among you but can't upload them, on the old site it gave a 'browse' option, doesn't seem to have it on here, can anyone help?

At least you've got it back for spares Peter which is good - when mine burnt out it was taken to a
Police designated recovery pound and I never saw it again - didn't have a chance to properly say goodbye...

Sorry to read of your wifes accident Peter, so glad all passengers were relativly unharmed. I totalled my first xm into the back of a transit. They do crash incredibly well and the passenger compartment remaind completely intack.
