Michelin Site is saying the Primacy 3 is replacing the original Primacy maybe just a lack of these during changeover period

I rarely get more than 15.000 miles out of a set and that includes the rears, they wear nice and evenly and all the suspension bushes are fairly new, can't justify Michelins myself they don't last any longer and don't grip any better, i'm not one to believe that's what the car was designed for as the latest tyres will have very little in common with what the factory supplied all those years ago. I just go for a decent mid range brand and have had most brands now due to mileage was doing.

Ignore the Citroen site bit, It clearly shows the Primacy is not available in XM size only available in 16 and 17"

The reason for the perceived lack of flexibility could be the higher gearing of the HDi. Both my HDi's were so highly geared that at 70 they were only just over 2000 rpm so around town trying to use a high gear caused much protest from the engine. Could that be it? I found them much more torquey at just 1500 rpm than the XUDs.

I think you are right Steve but the Hdi does not pull as smoothly below 1500rpm, there is very little vibration even from tickover from the XM. The 406 has a definite vibration at 1500 rpm if you accelerate hard although its better below that, the XM will pull strongly from 1200rpm the hdi's need about 1500. The XM feels that it would perform quite well without the turbo.

Well in the past I've had Michelin, and most of the premium and middle range brands longest lasting were some seriously cheap things called "Goodride" they were taken off before they wore out as they were Lethal

The Primacy LC is not just a Primacy, it's, well, a Primacy LC.
These are the tyres that replaced the Energy Savers. So far I've noticed the LCs are way quieter and have better grip than the Savers. Checking how much fuel they save will be tedious, so maybe I'll pass on that one. They are the latest generation high performance tyres marketed in the Asia Pacific region. Don't take my word for it. If you are satisfied with what you have, good for you. I was, until I got this rubber.
