If I can afford them I like Michelins.

My experience of toyos is that they are excellent tyres and my xm is riding very well on them. I would fit no other summer tyre on my smart roadster and the toyos are streets ahead of the factory fit bridgestones and continentals.

My original XM brochure said the MXV3 tyres were designed for the XM, not the other way round.

I found I can afford them as I won't compromise on tires.

I suppose we all have different requirements and opinions. Depends a lot on the topography our vehicles are driven. Besides, the discussion is one we don't easily tire of

Well i came out this morning to find the n/s front tyre flat on the XM, a huge screw in the very outer edge of the tyre, making it unrepairable.

So i thought id give some Michelins a go, had a new pair of Michelin Energy Savers fitted to the front this morning. I dont like changing one tyre so i had to get a pair, though as the spare had a very worn tyre fitted i got the remaining good one swapped to the spare.

So ill see how i get along with these Michelins, they seem very quiet and smooth riding at the moment.

The Xm, being a 2.1TD manual, wears the thinner 195.65.15 tyres, though it does have the wobbly web alloys on.

Ill report back with my findings once ive got used to the Michelins, im pleased with them at the moment.

Its got Vredestien Sportrac3s on the rear, they are a great tyre, but i couldnt get hold of a pair of those so thought id get some Michelins.

Afterall, they are what should be on!

Hi, can anyone advise re correct tyre size for a 'W' reg xm 3 litre 24 valve automatic? It currently has 205 65 R15 fitted but Kwik-fit suggest 205 60 V15 and I'm not sure of the difference. Should have had a look at the unused spare when it was on a ramp at the weekend, but brain wasn't sufficiently alert due to acute lack of chocolate!

Hi Elaine

There should be a white sticker on the pillar between the drivers door hinges.
I think it is the top entry that gives the tyre pressures
The next line down gives the tyre specification.
Then below this is the recommended tyre make.

The owners manual for the 2000 model year gives the following for a V6-24v:-
Michelin 205/65 VR15 for both B.V.A. and B.V.M. versions.
This information came from a French version of the book as I could not quickly find a UK one.
Only BVA (4HP20 autobox) cars were supplied to the UK.

The size is correct, but the speed rating should be a V in all probability.

Tyre size is indeed on the door pillar - 205 65 R15 94V. Perhaps the time has come for an eye test!
