The window in the rear pillar is sooooooo handy and better for visability!

The Xantia has this window missing and after an XM I noticed it badly..

The ZX had the window fitted, then it was deleted from the Xsara.. Seems the "Citroen" designs had them, but then later new designs from 1993 lost them! Its a very handy visual aid indeed.

Hideous, what an utterly repulsive proposal. It just goes to show, you can't improve on perfection. I thought the series 2 was a clumsy mess, but this is so bad it defies description...

Nah, the series 2 is a very good car. I have to say, the series 2 is a better car to use daily.

I love the series 1 for its pure original design and style. But I prefer the series 2 refinements. In original spec.

What I prefer from the series 2, better sound deadening, RF remote central locking, better radios, better door mirrors. Some of this can be retro-fitted to the S1 easily enough if you are that way inclined. I'm going to do all these on my SD when I get round to it. I have the series 2 radio in it already. I plan to install RF receiver for the central locking and fit S2 mirrors when I get round to it.

I take your point Robert, but for me the S2 redesign loses some of the purity of design the S1 has. The Xantia inspired dash does not suit the car IMHO, and the materials for the interior could be out of any old Peugeot. The bumpers please me less, and the nose cone treatment seems heavy handed. I even love the S1 mirrors! I see the S1 as being timeless in terms of design, like a DS or a S1 CX, and the S2 redesign for me feels like an imposition.

Just my personal opinion, I don't dispute that the S2 XMs are worthy motor cars too

On the other hand, I hate the series 2 treatment to the CX. The Series 2 Xm isn't all that far away from the Series 1.

I like the CX series 2 apart from the slightly too deep rear spats and BX dials. The problem with the S2 XM is the dashboard plastics look rather 'low rent'...and that's the bit you look at as a driver.
