The original parts list for the V6 engine lists a single Bendix part for all six injectors (Cit 96 044 207 marking is black).
For the V6-24V again a single Bosch part for all six injectors (Cit 96 050 712) no note on marking.

All injector are bendix and black, they also look identical in terms of the body size and shape but these two have a single jet hole in the nozzle and a much shorter part number, the others have twin jetted nozzles, i will check the numbers.
I think the whole set is junk anyway as they are rusty and full of sh.....

Here are what injectors 123&6 look like

And this is 4&5

I need to find out what size these injectors are and get a fresh set off of something ideally, i dont fancy using these as inside the gauze filter is chock full of rubbish and they look generally abused.

Well the timing gear is back on and a (hand crank) compression test shows a flat 8bar across each and every one of the 6 cylinders with a healthy pop from each exhaust port rather than the rather limp ssssssssss noise as the compression stroke pushed air past all the valves like it did when i got it.

Im not 100% convinced ive got the timing right and once you have turned it over a few times the markings on the chain drift of from the cams so i may just set it one last time to be 100% positive its correct.

The engine is now a bit bloody heavy too, no picking it up now!

 do yourself a mischief otherwise!

Excellent about the compression test. So how long do you think till its ready?

The engine? not long, a couple of days work now plus some re-furbishing and re designing of the engine loom so maybe two weeks, the trouble is the injectors, it would appear my two odd ones are correct, the other 4 show up for the ZPJ engine but only the Renault Espace for some reason and not the citroen or pug applications so i need to look into that.

I am hoping to get the engine done and moved out so i can start on the gearbox, once thats done there is no delaying it, the next step will be to tear the heart out of my poor prestige :(

you mention cylinder pressure was originally lost via the valves. That is nearly always the significant loss of compression.

I was thinking 8 Bar was a bit low, but then I'm thinking of diesels where an absolute minimum is 20 bar.

Strange about the injectors, though it might not matter as long as the delivery rates are the same.

8 bar is low for a petrol too, i would expect about 11 or 12bar minimum but not turning it over by hand with a breaker bar, when you hit the compression stroke now i stall and cant turn it over that easily whereas before it was simple to turn over but then most cylinders were making 4-6 bar with only a couple making near 8, they are all slightly over 8 and in fact, i just reset the timing and now its been turned over a bit its making a little more, i need to get a starter motor for it to do a proper test.

Injector wise im not happy running odd ones, most power is lost in old engines through fueling and compression and it would be a shame to do all this and leave odd missmatched injectors in.

I think Itstime for YOG to dig out its donor card as i need some injectors, a starter motor, a crankpulley, alternator and bracket, lots off little brackets and clips and its wiring loom, i didnt want it imobile before the conversion but needs must to get this engine all the stuff its missing.

Also think its wise to make a new starter loom with good quality auto components and ducting as in its current position it may as well be clipped to the exhaust manifolds
no wonder both engines had melted the starter looms.

Gosh that engine is looking shiny Dean and well done on your further progress! In relation to the valve timing, you may recall my concern about finding the correct setting and the unclear and slightly conflicting advice obtained and I will dig out the earlier photo. The starter wires do need to be protected by ducting due to the proximity of the front exhaust and also make sure the heat shield is present! With regards, Matthew T.
