Re: Robert's Turbo SD
There is a NOS 2.0i cable listed on ebay today for £60 plus post.
Search for "citroen XM clutch cable" and you will find two cables offered.
The one above by Jolly good and a more expensive one from a seller who cannot tell which model it fits.
He also makes the buyer responsible for any errors in suitability.

Re: Robert's Turbo SD
Thanks for the suggestions.
I don't know if its a snapped cable or the quadrant you talk about...
What is this and is it a lesser or bigger issue than a snapped cable?
The car is at the mechanics now but I don't know if he's examined it yet. He may have took my word that it is a snapped cable. He is having difficultly sourcing one.

Re: Robert's Turbo SD
Yea he will have an issue.... it will need to be made up at the company or simmilar as sugested above.
The quadrant is behind the cylinder head just below the heater in/out pipes made from tough nylon i think when i clutch gets heavy over time the holes that the cables attach to elongate and eventually pull out making a look a like snapped cable.. theres also a second short cable from the top of the pedal to the quadrant....

Re: Robert's Turbo SD
Ah ok, not sure if it is the quadrant. The pedal was not any more heavier than usual before it snapped, not sure if that indicated anything or not.
Would anyone with more knowledge than me be kind enough to give the specifications of that clutch cable that is needed in case I have to order one from Speedy cables (e.g. end connections etc.)?
Thanks for the help.

Re: Robert's Turbo SD
I think that Speedy would want the old cable as a sample and to re-use the end fittings if possible.

Re: Robert's Turbo SD
You should change the clutch kit for a quality clutch kit as well. I remember Alan having to replace a cable already on that car. Your replacement cable is likely to break again with the current clutch.

Re: Robert's Turbo SD
A good idea alright Robert, but I'll have to find a replacement cable first.
So it may be best to remove the old cable and send to Speedy for them to make a replacement?

Re: Robert's Turbo SD
Hello, so I checked with the mechanic this morning and he has worked out that it is the plastic part at the end of the cable which attaches to the pedal which has broken.
So I wondered if there is any solution besides getting a new cable?
Thanks

Re: Robert's Turbo SD
Bend a piece of metal into a U shape, notch it for the cable nipple to pass through, drill it for the pin. Job done.
