last ones I tracked were a set of 1/4 worn Michelins.

That was 1/4 worn before a full on track day...

That is getting your moneys worth, I'm impressed, please tell me you didn't do a track day just to use the tyres though.

Different car and tyres...

I had a go in this and decided the driver were a true Scotsman.

Its bad enough getting grief from the women in your life, when your car turns against you though you know things are going badly.........

Wouldn't you love it if the matrix on the xm displayed this with the immobiliser engaged :D

Tonight was a landmark, her first drive out, went about 5 miles as it may not be taxed or mot'd yet, the verdict is that the mot will be brought forward to Monday from May.

I will say I was a little scared of driving it, I love the car but in the last 4 years I have driven much newer and faster metal and there were niggles that it would feel unrefined, noisy, slow and with a clunky power sapping gearbox in the mix I thought it would return to the road only for me to find I have no love for it anymore.

Thankfully I was wrong, yes the rear end feels a bit firm, the arm rest pocket lids give an annoying creaking and so does the rear inner screen but she drives wonderfully, not powerfull but it is effortless, the box work has paid off as the shifts cannot be felt at all which surprised me, the home made exhaust and insulation has paid off in a big way too and it feels really smooth and tight to drive far better than I remember in fact by a long way.

So if few more bits to do including a cam belt to throw on for peice of mind but first mot time, maybe even by wednesday ;)

Sometimes I feel like that about my XM's, but then drive them for a bit and enjoy the feeling. I had a drive in a very late car, while in France, recently and it was super smooth.
