Ah that's true - there's no way to get a torque wrench in! I forgot ... o well, I'll just tighten them and inspect after a month.

That sound like a good plan Graeme and I clearly should have done the same! Anyway all the best for the work ahead and it looks like a slightly easier task than the PRV V6, although the turbo clearly adds some complications. With regards, Matthew T.

Thanks Matthew, sometimes while undertaking work like this I do think "...imagine if this was a V6.." haha maybe one day..

Well I had the opportunity to take the cylinder head to the place a day early and to my surprise, was told that it would be ready tomorrow same time (12 noon) so here's hoping. They're skimming it and giving it a chemical clean and alu spray - not really essential but can't bead blast it for obvious reasons so the cleaning service was offered. Might look ace as well as work now hahaha

In addition to the gaskets I have a new thermostat and the plastic housing as I spotted a hairline crack inside the one from the engine. New water pump and stuff to go on too. Updates to follow!

I think you'll be amazed at how clean the head looks when it slots back in - and how mucky the rest of the engine looks!

Haha that's what I was hoping Dean! To be honest the real reason I'm cleaning the bits is simply because they're out. But you're right - cleaned bits make adjacent bits look manky - need to polish my spheres now I think..

So long as it's clean on the INSIDE - that's what matters!

Well done Graeme and that is very annoying about the damage! It must be frustrating not to quite finish the job and check the result! Is it possible you could repair or otherwise improvise replacement of the broken section, which looks like a fairly simple plastic sleeve? Regards, Matthew T.
