2.5 uses the standard XM brake cables, it is only the V6-24v than has one different cable.
There were a batch of the specials on ebay that failed to sell.

Mine must be weird the part numbers at the time were not as easy to find when I was looking for them but it's an estate as well...
Though one saving grace for everyone is that all but the V6 and possibly 2.5, use brake discs that are used commonly around the psa group and sell as cheap as £30 a pair

They changed the front disc and caliper size on V6's and 2.5's about 1997, 283mm to 288mm.
Front brakes on 2.5 Estates and cars are identical.
Three different sizes over the life of the XM.
Hope that £30 includes postage.

It did do

My 2.5 must use the later bigger ones then, and stupid calipers to go with it
