Ok. There was a fair amount of this.
And this.
Followed by Sparrow Automotive doing a lot of this.
Resulting in happy scenes like this.
Also replaced a split leak-off pipe on one of the injectors, so it started better now. And welded up a hole in the exhaust, so it's quieter now.

Thats looking good.
I do like welding, though that photo makes me wish I had a lift.

I also think that welding looks rather tidy for a general garage's work.

I agree. But I don't really like the looks of your strut tops. Now mine looked roughly the same. I thought they were OK -ish but they really needed replacement.
Check mine:

Look at it as old tyres. Old tyres, even though not used, get old and less fine over time. Get them replaced just in case, like you would with old tyres

Not just a general garage - Pete Sparrow is renowned in Citroen circles and trained up at a main dealer. I'm very pleased with the work. That's why I travelled about 70 miles.

Cap'n - I agree. Indeed, one of the jobs we intended doing was replacing the offside strut top (I have a good spare now) because the rubber is delaminating - and I suspect there might be rot lurking within. We ran out of time though. I need to visit again to finish stonechipping and painting the sills. We ran out of time for that too.

That's very interesting, as he isn't too far from me, should it need any welding done. Thinking of the slightly dodgy front sill repair here.

He mostly does 2CV restorations, but is well versed in hydro-Cits too. He owns a CX and a BX valver.

My 24v S1 needed this part welding up for her last mot, but ive not seen any with the under wing holes that you had!!!
S2 cars do seem to be far worse then S1 cars for the rust/rot!!
Also if you specialist REALLY knows his XM then he should know NOT to lift them on the cill lifts!!! I Dont care if its the jacking point or not, I NEVER lift an XM on the jacking point! I always use the subframes!

Very sound advice. Jacking points they are not.
