Grumble grumble - to complete a good week for broken things, I managed to tread on my glasses this morning, and snap off one of the arms, at the thinnest point. Supergluing has so far not taken, and my spares are even worse!

I think it's Should have gone to Specsavers...

Which I tried to do today but they never answered the phone. So off to Tesco Opticians (only the finest for me) being the one that could fit me in tomorrow. Some of their glasses are called Capri and Escort, I wonder if they do an XM?

Anyway, it was impossible to glue the break on the original pattern (about 1.5 mm of contact) so I over-laid the arm on top of the little stub remaining to give about 3mm and kept adding superglue to produce a large area of bond. This includes the lens as my aim was a bit off, but they work and seem rock-solid!

I had a couple of pairs of frameless glasses from specsavers. Quite expensive too, and with in a week of having the first pair, the little bolts and screws fell out leaving me with deconstructed glasses! The second pair I super glued as soon as I got home so they wouldn't fall apart. So a dab of super glue on all and no trouble.
I did tell them this and they said it was how I was cleaning them. A quick demo of how I cleaned them showed them I was doing it right. ;)

I go to glasses direct now, but you need a copy of your prescription, which is like trying to get blood out a stone from a high street opticians.

I've always found Specsavers to be bob on. I've had a couple of pairs of glasses that I've accidentally damaged. I took them to Specsavers and they replaced them with no quibbles under their two year guarantee.

Yeah...on the whole they are very good. Truthfully... no complaints, but my decision to change was purely they didn't have anything I liked frame wise.

Never tried the big chain opticians. I have remained faithful to my local one in town and find they're excellent.

Oddly enough, my eyesight is actually improving. Neither I nor the optician can quite understand why...

I tried my local one first, but they fully booked until the new year, and I couldn't wait that long with a dodgy set of glasses I really need to drive.

Well Tesco were fine, and certainly the festive spirit there contributed to one of the least likely, but enjoyable, lines what I have spoke in a long time - "I'm sorry, I can't see the black circles, your antlers are in the way".
