I'm, really quite delighted Jaap. The improvement seems almost exponential. I stopped at 14 but could have done more; I didn't want to push it too hard.
Since then I've walked to the dentist and back in the pouring rain but did take the Activa out for a pleasure spin. It's not moved in two weeks and whilst it's not bad weather I like use it as often as I can. Soon though I'll be laying it up for the winter and it then won't move until the weather is nice an warm once again.
I'm hoping all this fitness will eventually enable me to do more and more and hopefully get me back somewhere near my old self. So basically Will, that's the aim. I shall keep on pushing the lap count as it's a good indicator of where I am fitness-wise.
We had a lecture from a doctor yesterday who explained that doing too much resting - which at times is all you want to do - is dangerous because it de-conditions the body and your fitness and ability to do any real activities decreases and decreases almost until you can do nothing. A programme of getting back fit again reverses that. Has to be taken gently though...
If I can get back to being able to do what I used to be able to do on cars then it'll be really well worth it. When I can do what Paul has done recently on that 2.1 XM of his that Charles is having I'll know I've achieved it. So Paul, you are my benchmark
I guess it means I'll have to keep up the exercise and fitness regime for the rest of my life now. Not a bad thing I guess...
Hygienist reported a significant improvement in my dental health today as well. It's all good
