There is a large stash of nos front and rear bumper trims on the bay at the moment, B.Primmer (think thats his name) does the stainless side trims, it would cost over £200 for that option but they would be perfect then and good for another 20+ years if looked after.

Being sold by the Chevronics centre, I think the price is a little steep....I know these guys are in business, but over charging like this doesn't endear me to their business as so called citroen supporting people. £50 a trim is a fair price and they will be making a decent profit on that im sure.

I think it's good that Rob at Chevronics has decided to stock these, it shows that as well as the GS/As that's he's usually specialising in he's willing to cater for the XM too.

As you say, it's a business but it's not really over charging. Not too long ago we got some bumper trims from Citroen as they had a couple in stock locally, can't remember exact costs but was certainly between £70-£80 each.

I've not checked Service Citroen for these recently to see if you can still get them or not, probably a case of if there's any in stock anywhere...

Well ive been up since 3 and I cant sleep so for once ive got some free mental time to get on here and have a look around

Its been a difficult few weeks as I alluded to in previous posts, but mentally I seem to have come out from under the dark cloud ive been living with for some time now. Work is finally doing a lot better, although im not out of the woods just yet. My branch is now top of the region performance wise which takes some of the stress away but I still need to tackle the fact that I have a pre disposition to take on too much stress and responsibility myself. I start counselling next Thursday which im looking forward to to try to understand how to live a mentally more balanced life. Iron out the peaks and troughs as Jim puts it

On the Citroen front I've still been dabbling....the xm's battery has finally succumbed to lack of use and now needs jump starting whenever I want to run it for a short while. The xm is still tucked up under its car cover on the drive and recently ive aired it out and done some cleaning up work on it before its continued hibernation throughout winter. My neighbour across the road has offered me his garage to store it over the winter, but I know it wont fit down the side of his house...although he seems to think it will I might give it a try?

Last weekend I attempted to jack it up to remove the front wheel so I can get the new tyre put on it I picked up...didn't go so well though...raised up I stuck an axle stand under the subframe and lowered it but it didn't lift up enough to remove the wheel so I borrowed a trolley jack and tried to jack up on the front corner of the subframe.....the damn thing though just started to bend though as soon as the full weight was on it so I quickly dropped it down and have given up for now What I figured was ill just get it all done come the time its ready to be MOT'd and get back on the road....whenever that may be. It needs a beam jack on a ramp ideally and as the work needed is underneath I don't see why I should struggle underneath it when a garage lift seems much more sensible...I know it costs money but its next year stuff so ill see what happens

Im still planning on making the NEC show next month which im looking forward to...a chance to see some nice clean classics and hopefully bump into some familiar faces again before the winter months.

Also on the cards is to start exercising again...im going to be helping Linda become a better swimmer as she used to be a runner before ongoing injuries put a stop to it and is looking for something else to take its place. Ive always been quite partial to swimming and its something we can do together.

On the Pallas front I did a nice audi q7 a week or so ago...luckily it was a nice sunny day and my client lives in a beautiful part of the countryside in Cheshire so it was a hard day but also quite an enjoyable one...its not a citroen I know but the pictures can be found on here:

Now that im feeling a lot better im going to make a concerted effort to rejoin the citroen society on here

Yes, absolutely. The cornerstones of the stuff I'm having is to get as fit as possible and also to get the mental attitude adjusted.

Although not the official attitude I rather like the dog attitude:

'If you can't eat it or play with it then pee on it and walk away...'

Which can be nicely re-written to say that if a situation does not float your boat and/or causes stress then simply abandon it and walk away... I do. Mainly at work... We have now to have compulsory voice-mail on our office phones. I don't like it so my message simply says "Hello, it's Jim. I don't do voicemail so don't bother leaving me a message. Goodbye..."

I'm sure I'll soon get a bollocking for it but do I care... Nah... I'll no doubt make it worse by giggling at whoever is charged to have words with me about it...

Counselling can be very, very positive..

TBH Jim you could argue you it against them and say its causing you undue stress always worrying what someone could leave on there for you to work on.

I'd be tempted to just change it to ' Sorry I am having issues with my voice mail. Please send me an email instead until the issue is resolved. ' then just keep locking your pin number out all the time if they whine any more. I hate voice-mails and always have done so i know how you feel!

Vince, take the battery out of the XM and get one of your lads to drop it off at my place when they are doing rounds I'll be able to bring it back to life as long as you haven't depleted it for to long and I've already saved one of Paul's batteries that was showing 9v but has now reconditioned and holder 12.4v quite happily for a few days Better than spending £50+ on a new battery and good for the environment

Ha ha thanks guys. ..Jim your voice mail thing made me laugh out loud. I too don't do voice mail. .it drives Linda mad as she leaves me messages but I just delete all voice mails. Texts I do and I always return missed calls but messages. ..no thanks. I like the dog philosophy though. .it seems a good code to work from : )
