Re: Gold 2.0Si
How much did you put in oil wise Neil?
IIRC correctly, the XM oil capacity is around 4.5 to 5 litres...
Ill have a look and see if Ive got an oil switch with single connection, but thats more BX eira of sensor..

I never measure out the exact amount, I've always topped up until it reads on the max level. I know I put the right amount in but I don't want to put any more oil in - I'd rather have too little in than too much. That's why I asked about the diesel down the dipstick hole as then I would be willing to change the oil again to ensure it has the right amount in. A bit long winded but better safe than sorry.

In my experience most of the XM engine and auto gearbox dipsticks smear a bit, but you usually get enough of a reading on one side or the other! Regards, Matthew T.

Re: Gold 2.0Si
The 2.0 XU engines do burn quite a bit of oil, so I would expect the level to have dropped a bit.

Re: Gold 2.0Si
They do Will, but thats useually because the Valve seals go hard and brittle and expand a bit and dont seal properly. Its also a common issue on the smaller 1.9 and 1.6 XU Engines...

It's 5.4 ltrs - it's 4.5 - 4.475ltrs in the turbo version, depending on Air-Con.citroenxm wrote:IIRC correctly, the XM oil capacity is around 4.5 to 5 litres

Finally got around to the job I've been wanting to do since I got the car - or is that dreading the thought of having to do it.
First things first

Strip the glass and parcel shelf out

Then remove the fibreglass moulding

Just to emphasize the difference between the two headlinings

The sunroof on my car is squarer than later cars so 2.5 inch had to be removed from the rear of the headlining

Creating this

But the real problem is this

The solid plastic bar that runs across the front of the sunroof section has to removed to enable the front part of the headlining to be moulded into place

All the parts of the reconstructed headlining stuck together

Leaving the finished article

Lay the new material over the top

Cut the sunroof

And then the batteries died in the camera
All the trim laid out after a lick with the Meguiars

And the headlining finally in

The rear is very good and sits very nicely but I'm not impressed with the front part. Too many parts of the headlining moulding had to be changed, the material had to compensate for this and hasn't fitted as well as I wanted. So in the close season I'll remove it all again to refit new material to the front part at least.
For the moment I'm just going to enjoy the car after all the work I've put in.

Re: Gold 2.0Si
Well done Neil. It really is a different headlining. How interesting.
Would steam help to stretch and de-crease the material?
