Never tried Mint Paul but I know Steve (Myglaren) on the FCF has some nice words to say about it. Try Ubuntu though. It's what I use and I find it pretty good.

CentOS is not one for you yet as it's all command line with nothing graphical on it at all.

You'll find Ubuntu Desktop very lovely. A lot easier and a lot less fussy than Windows.

I've just upset the laptop I was running CentOS on.

During a trial restore of the FCF forum database the laptop shut itself down due to overheating

Can you come and do some for me!
Agreed :D And when you've done Paul's Russ, can you then do my Activa please?

Thanks very much guys. It was a fiddle, patients is required. But got there. It still needs some attention, although it doesn't look it. The door is more of a task.

Anyway, I went to Highnam House Glouscestershire motorshow this morning. Had some classics on display, and all the dealerships were out in force. I did take my camera, but didn't manage to take any interesting piccies as it was all a bit dull. No unusual or interesting classics. So,e lovely cars certainly, but all very predictable. No Citroens. :(

What I did find interesting was sitting in all the new cars. Got to say. Plastic quality is dire in most of the cars. The Renault Clio is horrid. sat in a Zoe too. The interior was pale beige and white. So that will last a week before that is black with dirt.
Look good though.
The most interesting thing I wanted to try was the Peugeot 208 steering wheel. For me it worked. It felt quite normal and intuitive. I have to say I am impressed by it as car.

I took the XM, performed well. As we were leaving, I passed a P reg crimson Xantia V6. P360NAN I think. I would have hopped out and taken a pic, but I was queuing to get out!! ;)

No further progress on the car. Been busy with other important things. :)

That Xantia is a nice spot Russ. The S1 V6 is a very rare car adn even more so being on a P plate. One of the very, very first...

Don't worry Jim. I don't care!

I think the Xantia I saw was a P reg. It had darker tinted rear lights and cream leather from what I could see. It was in very good nick.

The lady sales rep on the Citroen stand recognised me from a year ago, when my frirend tim bought a C1 from them. I took him to the dealers in the XM so he could sign the papers....and to rile the dealer ship!!!
She tried to flog me a new Citroen. I replied " I'm old school and these don't have hydraulics. So no thanks!"

They missed a trick, "Can we interest sir in one of our fine C5 Exclusives instead?", is what they should have said!   ;) ;) ;)

Well I need no convincing about the C5. I took one out on test drive when they were brand new. Got a free bottle of champers too for doing it too! So I can see why you like yours Robert. I think they look great and still impress now. I am biased though.

I did feel like saying to them, Citroen should be making cars with a simple hydraulic system..like a BX say. With the state of the roads in this country it would make alot of sense. But of course a dealer is not interested in that at all. Nothing to do with them. They just flog the cars.

Sad fact was...the Citroen stand didn't have a C5 or DS5. Not even a C4 and the Picasso range. Although they are about to be replaced, so that would make sense. It was all DS3, C1 a Ds4 and a single C3. Pretty crap I think. Even the 508 SW on the shared Warners stand for both makes...was a low spec and did nothing for the model. A shame..as an estate it is a nice car close up.

The DS3 is the big seller at the moment, and probably very profitable too. The guys I got my C5 from told me the DS3 was their best selling Citroen at the moment.
