Hi Will,
It was welded in situ as you and Jim suggested.
Ive just been out in it for a long drive, the gearshift still seems notchy to me and it seems to be rev dependant sometimes....i wouldnt mind getting under it at some point soon to see just what the repair looks like
Im not worried about the quality of work, Paul is a perfectionist when it comes to old Citroens

More likely is the linkage rods aren't the correct length. Measure and adjust.
I've just been out doing some country laning on B roads and unclassified backwaters. It was great fun and the XM definitely handles that kind of driving better than the Merc.

It still surprises me in a very happy way just how well the XM handles for such a large and soft old barge...
That and the performance that can be wrung from the V6 I find give many people a bit of a shock... They seem to automatically assume XM=barge=slow=ponderous
Nothing of the sort old boy!!!

Been a while again. ...just having a laugh with Linda about cars. I went to the airport this morning to pick up our American family. ..I took the Nissan and ended up with the parcel shelf on their laps in the back. I knew I should have taken the xm. Again a twenty year old design out does a new one. ...when is the world going to wake up to the fact that new isn't always better. ..

I like the power of the 2.5 but not the spares availability and I like the power of the 2.0TCT and V6s but not the fuel consumption.
Which do you prefer of yours?
Well, i just COMPLETELY and unterraly LOVED the PRV V6 Auto on LPG!!!
The TCT is noisy and crap in the XM - but the V6 on lpg gave great performance, an exciting Noise and equvilent 40mpg!! PERFECT!
For now though, the 2.1 TD manual it has to be...

What a glorious day
We had a party last night at ours for Linda's mum's 80th....the family came round etc, and "uncle Mike" who is about my age and a truck mechanic my trade got his first glimpse of an xm....what can i say, he was smitten
We didnt get out for a drive as we had been drinking, but Linda found us both sat in the back of the xm talking about the amazing leg room and sofa like seats in there....her face was a picture

The party is going on in the house, and we are sat in the back of the xm in the drive
Another convert to the xm fraternity
Ive enjoyed driving it this weekend and it will have a couple more outings today whilst the weather is still great

Excellent Vince.. I could picture the scene... Actually I'll bet the XM rear seats are a lot more comfy that many sofas people are likely to be looking at in furniture shops this weekend!
Gorgeous down here too. I was sitting in the garden reading but the heat has driven me indoors to cool down for a while!
