I've been contemplating one of those for ages now Jaap as I'm never 100% happy with letting someone else do the tracking and as you quite rightly say, it's getting expensive now.

On your recommendation I think I'll now go and get one :D

The downside to the Gunson gauge is that it relies on the other angles being correct and the surface you are on being level.

True Dieselman but I find (and it is recommended as well) that when you've finished the job, you do another new check.

Don't know if tracking is tested in your MOT centres as it is here in Ireland. But glad to say as I always check before the test, I have been quite spot on. It may be isn't 100% but I don't mind that, given the poor road conditions I have here.

No tracking check in our MOT test, just tyres.

There is in that if the tracking is so far out as to have worn the tyre to an illegal extent it'll fail...

You get more of your MOT money worth in IRL:), you know at least what the machine reads ...mm toe in or out or whatever. Point is I can get it fairly exactly done now, it takes a bit of practice with the gunson.

Sadly not Vince and I’ve just realised that I preached something to you that I don't practice. I only have one XM myself :(

I do have a couple of the XM's little sisters though...
