PRV V6 camchain tensioner guides

I just wondered if these were available new as the end fixing around the rivet seems to be a bit of a design fault! Is it possible that a new fixing could otherwise be introduced adjacent? I also attach a photo of the parts insitu and any guidance would be appreciated. Regards, Matthew T.

What makes you think they are a design fault?? Wear Id guess could be from lack of maintenace..

Sorry Paul I should have made myself more clear, there just does not appear to be enough fixing at the end of the guide, hence the sections of the liner have cracked away, The engine and parts shown are my spare, whilst on the engine under repair the rivets have failed completely and the end sections of the guides are flapping about. Of course you are right it is wear to a degree, but I still think the tolerances are a bit slight, Any ideas about replacement or repair? With regards, Matthew T.

Repair.. No not at all.. I've a 220k engine in my sei that is comming out eventually for a 65k odd mile engine.. I'd be interested in the general condition of that one..

I never thought about that sort of repair or maintenance. You would expect an enclosed chain and tensioner setup to not wear. So I've not ever considered it..

Bear in mind Mathew the prv bottom and and timing is a 70s design so the weakness may lie that far back. I doubt citroen modified much of the basic engine....

The p/n for the tensioner rail is 0829 08.

I suspect it would be available either from PSA, Volvo, Renault, or an aftermarket engine parts supplier as that is a widely used engine.

Are you fitting new chains as well?

Many thanks Will and I shall make some further enquiries, although I am not that hopeful given the age of the engine! It is only the nylon pad material on the rail that is worn and it would be good if that could be removed and replaced. The chains themselves appear fine and do not require renewal. Conversely to you, I'm sure those rails will be available given the volume of these engines worldwide.

If you can't get them, buy some suitable material and rivet it on.

I have spent a little time on the web looking for the parts Will with no joy to date and I am not sure what the material is to replace. Any further tips would be much appreciated! Regards, Matthew T.

Try a Volvo forum, all 260 and 760 cars used this engine Worldwide, so lots sold in the USA. Other forums would be Renault Alpine and Delorean as again it's the same engine.

Try a decent motor factors like Ferris Piston service, or a local engine re-conditioners.
