Me, not so serious to start with - then car insurance chat!!

Post by citroenxm » Sat Nov 17, 2012 10:05 pm

Hi All...

It appears that on Monday I was beginning to fall Ill...

I initially started with aches and pains, and headaches.. With the use of painkillers though,I managed a week (Mon to Thursday) of work.

However, friday saw me in bed with what had now become a VERY gassey intestines! VERY..

Today, though, saturday, saw the real outcome, and it appears that I have contracted Chicken Poks..

Ill be going to the Docs first thing Monday to confirm.. but judging by the masses of spots appearing and the itching etc this appears so.

Ive absolutley NO IDEA where from or who, Ive not been any where out the ordinary or any new places.

I shall keep informed for those interested.

Thanks for reading. :(

A trip to the Hospital is called for as it's not worth taking a risk
as there's worse than Chicken Pox. At least speak to NHS Direct.

Sorry to hear that Paul, if it is chickenpox I had it when I was about 16 and that was considered quite old. I would take andmcit's advice and at least see the doctor. I hope they get you sorted out soon.

Paul, when I say the title of the thread had Me as the first word I thought you'd got what I have. I'm glad it's not as I'd not wish ME/CFS on my worst enemy. Not that I have any enemies as far as I know :D

Now, I can tell you chicken pox at your age can be rather awful. I had it when I was 29 and by golly it was nasty. So nasty you wonder if you’ll live to see the next morning. Seriously it's bad. I passed it on to a close friend of mine and I honestly thought I'd be buying a wreath for him he was so bad.

It starts off as feeling a bit like you have 'flu and then it feels like you have very bad 'flu indeed but the spots are the give-away...

To be honest I'm surprised you're on here with the pox. You Welsh lads are clearly made of some tough stuff..

The good thing is that you recover fully in about a week and it leaves no lasting damage except an increased chance of getting shingles later in life.

It's funny as when you have chicken pox as a young kid you hardly know you have it but as an adult you really suffer. My kids both had it as babies and apart from the spots and a wee bit of grunmpiness there was no real sign.

Get well soon Paul, it's vital you rest and get Sarah to make a real fuss of you ;)

And I'll third the doctor advice. There's nothing he can give you as it's viral but at least he can correctly diagnose it and issue a sick note as you’ll not be up to work for a couple of weeks...

How long have you had the spots Paul? If they've only appeared late today or very recently along with the throbbing neck then get down to A and E asap especially if you have a throbbing headache, a dislike of bright lights and a stiff neck amongst other symptoms...

Have you done a glass test on the spots? Hold an empty glass hard against them and they should fade under pressure. If they don't then don't even go to A and E. Dial 999. It's potentially serious

Itchy is the worst especially if you are clean shaven and can't shave because of the spots as you also have the beard itch to contend with

Ahh that's great news Paul and a bit (no, a hell) of relief too.

I guess you know what I was hinting at - every parent's worst nightmare...

Better to be a bit over-cautious I reckon...

Right, get well as soon as you can and make sure Sarah really pampers you. It really does help recovery you know ;)
